Heel and Toe were founded in 2008 due to the lack of accessible therapy services for children in the Northeast. The charity’s mission has always been to ensure that no child is denied therapy due to financial constraints. Heel & Toe Children’s Charity received its charity status on September 4, 2008, and opened its doors on October 4, 2008, providing free Conductive Education Therapy for children with Cerebral Palsy at the Meadows School in Spennymoor, County Durham. The demand for Heel & Toe’s services grew, leading to the establishment of a new centre in Framwellgate Moor, making it easier for families to access the charity’s services from across the region. A satellite centre in Darlington was also opened. The charity continued to thrive, and in 2012, trustees decided to purchase a building in Pelton to establish a centre of excellence for delivering a range of therapies to benefit children and their families. The ongoing support from the people of the Northeast and beyond is crucial for the charity to continue its work and make a positive impact on the lives of those who access its services. The Pelton Centre is now a Beacon of Excellence, offering a range of therapies under one roof.
